The optional memory of Mother Teresa of Calcutta (1910-1997), beatified by John Paul II in 2003 and canonised by Francis in 2016, is now included in the general Roman calendar. The feast of Mother Teresa on 5 September will therefore be celebrated all over the world.
GOD LOVES HE WHO GIVES WITH JOY
The best way to show our gratitude to God and to people is
to accept everything with joy.
Never let sorrow drown you to the point of forgetting the joy
of the Risen Christ.
We all aspire to Heaven where God is, but we have
the power to find ourselves in Heaven even now:
We only need to be happy with Him in the present moment.
But being happy with Him now means:
Loving as He loves
Helping as He helps
Giving as He gives
Serving as He serves
Saving as He saves
Being with Him twenty-four hours a day
Touching Him disguised in misery
In the poor and in those who suffer.
A joyful heart is the natural result of a heart burning
with love.
It is the gift of the Spirit, a sharing in the joy of Jesus living
within the soul.
Let us keep in our hearts the joy of God’s love and share
this joy by loving one another,
As He loves each of us.
May God bless us. Amen.
Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta (1910 – 1997)
