Patron of philosophers, Saint Justin symbolizes the sharing of knowledge between schools of thought and the circulation of ideas across time and space. In tribute to this role as a bridge, the St. Justin Foundation’s mission is to circulate knowledge by democratizing access to education.
Saint Justin of Nablus was a 2nd century Christian philosopher from present-day West Bank. Initially engaging in debates among Hellenistic philosophical currents, he converted to Christianity and became a preacher of the Christian faith, particularly among the elites of the Roman Empire. Accused of proselytism by the associates of the reigning Emperor Marcus Aurelius, he was martyred alongside six other Christians in the second half of the 2nd century. His commitment to defending his ideas at the risk of his life places him among other ancient philosophers willing to sacrifice their lives for their beliefs
