In my first editorial, I invited you to open new paths. A few months later, I am delighted to see how well that invitation has resonated. Encounters are multiplying people who seem to have little in common are meeting, exchanging views and ideas especially in very welcoming settings. St-Justin is, in a way, the antidote to algorithms that trap us in echo chambers where everyone is the same. Here, people of different ages, cultures, and backgrounds come together.
In today’s tense international climate, these moments of dialogue take on a special significance. At St-Justin, students from over 110 nationalities live and study together. Over the past seven months, I have encountered nothing but stories of friendship, respect, and mutual curiosity. This diversity reminds us how much understanding grows through encounter and listening.
In these challenging times, difficult for many here as well, Sainte Rita the patron sainte of hopeless causes, brings comfort to people from very different backgrounds. I warmly invite you to explore her story from a playful and scientific perspective during the mini conference “Sainte Rita the Incorruptible”, followed by a concert, on May 22 in Fribourg and June 6 in Geneva (see p. 17).
On behalf of our 70 scholarship recipients and all the students we currently support, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Natacha Roos,
Director
